One of the greatest encouragements for us in the recovery and reconciliation field is the networking opportunities. We have been honored to attend Chalk it Out with Dr. Sonya Abrams. Representatives from the State of Tennessee Suicide Prevention, Harbor House, Almost Home Retreat, and other guests were allowed to speak and advise of our services available for the community.
Last week I was honored to complete the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP II) Certification offered by the Tennessee Mental Health Consumers' Association. Certified support groups are now being offered by Almost Home Retreat to further assist those in our community to heal!
We've begun the new year with a fresh look at trauma, loss, and pain. Our movie night begins as mentors watching "The Shack." The majority of our 8 mentors had never seen this film and we also will be using the study guide that accompanies the movie to better understand our struggles. This is 5 week study with the book.
This entire week will be spent training in Wellness Recovery Action Plan II (WRAP) Certification. I was given a scholarship to attend by the Tennessee Mental Health Consumers' Association in October, 2018. After almost 14 years of work from the Copeland Center, it is now recognized as "evidence-based!" ** The training will be held at the Lowenstein House in midtown Memphis. **https://copelandcenter.com/resources/samhsas-national-registry-evidence-based-programs-and-practice
